Have you ever had a friend who had difficulties because the airline lost their baggage? Well, dogs being transferred from plane to plane can sometimes be lost, too. Mistakes are made, and the dog may not follow you onto your connecting flight, or it may just have been placed on the wrong flight to begin with. Sometimes you luggage is never found again—unfortunately, sometimes the dog is never found again.
To prevent this from happening, be sure to have your contact information in as many places as possible. Make sure the dog has a permanent ID tag attached to him that has your phone #, home address, and any contact in formation that may be important. Make sure his travel cage has the same information attached to it, and inside it. Microchips embedded under the dog’s fur is another good idea, as vets and pounds now check for these regularly, when a dog is found. Another possibility is a tattoo.
All these things may seem to be overkill, but your pet is part of your family, and you know that you want to do everything possible to make sure it stays that way.
